A render that fails the dry run keeps the rollout in Progressing

Behavior#

convoy opens a rollout for a new render before the pre-apply dry run. If the dry run rejects the render (Applied=False, reason Unappliable), convoy does not apply it. The observer then has no resources of that render to assess. The rollout verdict stays “pending”, so the rollout deadline does not start the failure path.

Effect#

The rollout stays in Progressing. convoy does not set Failed and does not roll back.

Workaround#

Monitor the Applied condition. When the reason is Unappliable, fix the source. A new render opens a new rollout.
